Kampala to Kabale then Kisoro

We finally pack up the Wakiso house and head on the next road trip. A long bus ride down to South West Uganda and we arrive in Kabale. We spend 2 days staying with friends and then head to Lake Bunyonyi. The lake is a flooded crater and is the deepest in Uganda with many little islands scattered all over it. A dug out canoe takes us to a lovely island called Amagara and we pitch the tent for the night.

Back on the mainland we share a taxi with a Dutch medical student and head into Mgahinga National Park.

We're up early the next morning for a day's hiking. Us, the Dutch student Walter and two other VSO's we bump into; Jesus and Isus climb Mount Sabino together. Mount Sabino means Old Man's Tooth because of the jagged three peaks, each of which you have to climb to get to the top of the highest one – 3669metres. The final peak is totally vertical and so we have to climb up the ladders nailed precariously into the side of the mountain. The top is quite special though as the mountain borders; Uganda, Rwanda and the Congo – so we can place a foot in each country!

Jo and Liam standing in the Congo - shame about the mist!
